I'm reading more of a sense of detachment, or distraction. Being a popular top host, he likely has more knowledge of the state of operations, than most.

David worked with QVC for many years, then was layed off and started working for Lisa Robertson for a few years. Now that she has closed her business, David has returned to QVC. Jan 10, 2022 · This Friday, 1/14, a new show called "Catching Up with David Venable" is coming to Q2. The program guide describes it as follows: "Program Host David Venable shares some of his favorite products and chats with customers." It's a fairly generic/broad description, but the "chat" element could be interesting, especially for all the DV fans out there.
